In 1968, owner and founder, Andriyous Youkhana, migrated to the United States to pursue his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. While growing up in a small community, Mr. Youkhana formed a strong work ethic by working small jobs in a variety of fields. When he moved to Chicago, his intentions were to study computer programming, but soon found himself wanting more than just a diploma and a nine-to-five job.
While going to school, Mr. Youkhana worked part-time as a valet attendant for a popular restaurant in Chicago’s Gold Coast area. He soon realized that his true passion was to work in the service industry. He quickly withdrew from school and began working full-time in the parking industry.
The early years of Mr. Youkhana’s parking career consisted of working for different parking operators in the Chicagoland area. Although he was just an employee, Mr. Youkhana’s work philosophy was identical to that of an owner’s. Many of his employers took note of his strong work ethic and distinct skills and, as a result, he quickly became entrusted with the management of those properties.
By 1979 Mr. Youkhana had gained enough experience to venture off and start his own parking management company, Crosstown Auto Park. He purchased his first garage at 328 South Wabash, located adjacent to DePaul University’s Loop campus, where he continues to operate today.
Over the next two decades, Mr. Youkhana worked diligently to acquire a variety of parking properties in the City of Chicago. His company has maintained consistent growth while he acquired a positive reputation as a leading parking facility owner and operator.
Today, he is joined by his children and each has an essential role in the day-to-day operations. Together, their focus is to continue to improve the parking experience as Mr. Youkhana set out to accomplish over 40 years ago.
